it is done

Well, I've done it. Henry had his first hair cut on Sunday night.

I guess it was really more of a trim. And just in the back. He had these long wispy strands that would sometimes curl out to the sides and really really emphasize his ears. You know, the classic baby side mullets. Which was, of course, in addition to the natural mohawk that he has goin' on. He didn't really need two wild 80's hairstyles at once.

(Okay, maybe calling side mullets 'wild' is a bit of an exaggeration.)

So, I combed and snipped and clipped and tried not to cut him and really tried not to mess up his hair and I think it turned out okay... I've never cut a baby's hair before and I have to say it was harder than I expected. His hair is so thin! And of course he wouldn't hold still.

But no one got cut and I don't think it looks too bad, so we will call it a success!

(Thanks for taking the video, Gina!)

That looks fab! It IS hard to cut a squirmy kid's hair. (Did it hurt just a little to see those precious locks fall away? It hurt me to see Camryn's disappear! I saved a lock, though, and bundled it together with a dab of clear nail polish at the top. It looks so pitiful sitting on my dresser!)

In Paris (sigghh...in Paris!), Dana's and my apartment was down the street from a little galerie that was entirely devoted to children. (We walked through there every day on the way to and from the metro.) There was a toy store, a children's clothing boutique, and a hair salon with the tiniest little chairs you could imagine, ready and waiting for their unwilling occupants! I would have loved to take Camryn there for her first haircut. :)

By the way, side mullets are not only wild, but also have the ability to rock ANYONE'S world!!! Never underestimate the power of a mullet. Especially when paired with, like, a Nascar t-shirt and a ball cap from Hooters. Be still, my beating heart!

Sorry--let's try that again. Here's the link to a pic of the Passage des Princes, the galerie near my house!

(If the link cuts out, just Google "Passage des Princes" and feast your eyes! I truly miss coming home from school every day to a sight like that--and a dinner like my French mother's. That lady could COOK. She terrified the crap out of me, but her food was divine!

I am a big fan of the buzzers for squirmy little boys. I just get out the #8 attachment and go all over. That way it doesn't matter if he squirms! :)

Isn't cutting their hair a pain? I'm excited for when I can say "hold still!" and it'll do something. Good job on the hair! LOL at Henry in the bath, Cameron does the same thing with his bottles of water in the bathtub... tries to drink a little then dumps it down his tummy.

you are so welcome! he is the cutest boy in the world -- even cuter now with shorter hair.
