easter

On Thursday night, our next-door-neighbors, the Kilpatricks, invited us over for dinner and to dye eggs.  There's something so beautiful about those colors.  There's also something so beautiful about living next door to your dear friends.  Just sayin'.

Then, on Saturday we went to the neighborhood Egg Hunt.  I brought some cupcakes to share.

Henry's still in that phase where he'll stop after picking up one egg just to see what's inside.  So, it was slow going, but we gathered a sufficient haul.

Henry with his buddy Evan.  Aparantly, Evan tells his mom that Henry is one of his 'boys'.  Again, we are so blessed by our neighbors!

The sunrise on Easter morning was appropriately spectacular.  I'm glad I was the one who got up to hide the eggs.  The sun quickly disappeared behind dense cloud coverage.  But what a beautiful way to start such an important holiday.

We did an indoor hunt this year (see above mention of clouds...) for Henry and Cameron.  It had a pretty humorous beginning.  We told them 'go! start grabbing your eggs!'  At which point Henry began running around in circles.  After he did settle down and focus, he only got two or three eggs in his basket before Cameron began to pilfer a few.  So, Henry threw a fit because his eggs are being stolen, and Cameron threw a fit because he's in trouble for  stealing eggs.  Yes, both two-year-olds were crying on the floor thirty seconds after we started the egg hunt.  So, so classic.

They eventually got the hang of it.  Peacefully.

Matt was sick that day, so I was this close to skipping the first hour of church because I would have had to wrangle Henry all by myself.  Matt's parents were out of town at a wedding, and his mom is usually the provider of all things entertaining during Sacrament meeting.  But I'm so glad I went.  The music is always so beautiful on Easter Sunday.

I made Easter dinner which consisted of ham (that was cooked a little too long), mashed potatoes, asparagus, and rolls.  With brownies and ice cream for dessert.

Easter meant a lot to me this year.  I was grateful for the opportunity to focus on fresh starts, healing, and hope, all provided by my Savior and the miracle of His resurrection.
